Quotes and Comments on Gail Lloyd's new CD, "Circles":
Bernard Boyat, (June edition of Le Cri Du Coyote): .... here is beautiful Gail of Gail & The
Tricksters whom we've spoken of on occasion in these columns. Giving up rockabilly for a time,
she has recorded quite a varied album. I happen to prefer her hillbilly bop /rockabilly side and you have to wait for the second part of the CD to benefit from this, the first part being more varied, with the exception of "Let It Be Me" (Not to be confused with the US version of Gilbert Becaud's
"Je t'appartiens") which posess a light Hollyesque flavor. It's a pity  that all the album is not all in
the light hillbilly bop sounds of "Same Thing Only Different", or of rockabilly/ hillbilly bop "Rockabilly Girl" or the 50's ballad,  "Last Farewell" and, especially "To Higher Ground" with the Jordanairs-like choruses, which will make you cry as I did.

Thomas Martin of Chatanooga's Enigma Magazine writes:   Gail Lloyd presents Circles, a gentle collection ...  The twelve track collections are balanced and sober. The core tracks are reflective...
The record is a success because it is a sonic document that details memory and makes a pledge... Gail offers her memories with a stark honesty ... Lloyd's tone carries a bit of mysticism....

Chris James, editor of Nashville's Shake! Magazine says: "I think [Circles] is wonderful..."

Brad Fischer of the Nashville Music Guide (April 2006) says: "Lloyd is essentially a roots rocker
but demonstrates her versatility on this 4th CD release. ... an eclectic tapestry ... All in all, a
very pleasent combination of catchy tunes penned or co-written by the artist... My pick of the
twelve cuts is Let It Be Me ...especially as presented by the sweet vocals of Lloyd. This CD is a
very good listen."

Francois Braeken (March 2006) ROOTSTIME says:
Under the guidance of top-producer and classic musician Egan (of: The Brooklyn cowboys)
[who was] chosen for a more alternative country/Americana direction ...Gail Lloyd does not
disavow her musical source. Lovers of country/Americana can  have their hearts lifted with the opener "What has The World Done to You" and "Going down The Road" (a radio hit for sure). The songs "I Don't Wanna" -with backing vocals by  Egan and "Hot Summer Lily"- played by David Russel on violin and mandolin respectively - steal the show as does the deliciously summery sounding flamenco performance in "man or a Thousand Souls".  A superb cover of "Circle in the Sand"
(Belinda Carlisle) ... we  consider this colaboration with Egan  a great "debut" album for singer/songwriter Gail Lloyd. (for the full translated review: click here)

Raymond Swennon of Roots Revival Radio says: Thank you very much for sending me the
beautiful release from Gail Lloyd. I’ve enjoyed listening to her great music and beautiful
songs and I will give her disc regular airplay because she’s damn good.

Ernst Erb of Radio Riverside says: Thanks for sending me this record, it’s really great !
Good sound, and I intend to introduce it on my radio show tomorrow.

Virginia Ogawa of Walter Egan's fansite says: ... we hear the offerings of a mature and accomplished songwriter ... truly a treat for the ears. Personal favorites are "I Don't Wanna,"
"Man of a Thousand Souls" (though I can't decide which version I prefer, both are absolutely stunning) and "Hot Summer Lily." (www.walternative.com)
